Guwahati: Nagaland’s most armed rebel group NSCN-IM has hung the peace deal in limbo demanding separate flags and constitutions. In fact, the NSCN-IM went on a separate flag and a demand for a constitution. The NSCN-IM has said that “in a unanimous stand to reiterate the stand of nscn-im, the Naga House has unanimously adopted a proposal that the Naga national flag and Yehzbao should become part of the Indo-Naga political solution to make the Naga deal respectable and acceptable.”

The NSCN-IM said that the Government of India is sending a wrong signal on flags and the Constitution by making a separate point which is not agreed with the framework agreement. At the same time, the framework agreement has not given any scope for a separate talk on the Naga flag and the Constitution. A release issued by the Ministry of Information and Publicity said that it should be understood that the framework agreement talks of unique history. The organization issued the statement stating that it has become an external concern to focus in depth on the framework agreement. The focus of talks with the Government of India is now mainly on the Naga flag and the Constitution. Not only that, the NSCN-IM alleged that as the governor of Nagaland, the then negotiator is in total contradiction with the sticking point framework agreement, Ravi has given a misleading report to the Parliamentary Standing Committee.

Reports that are not linked to any agreement with the NSCN-IM negotiating team have now become a source of anguish in the Indo-Naga political dialogue. Nagaland Chief Minister Neffu Rio today said that his government is committed to play an active role between the centre and the interlocutors, calling upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resolve the Naga political issue quickly. The chief minister said the Naga political issue is at the top of the ruling PDA alliance. “We are committed to play an active role in the ongoing dialogue between the central government and the Naga political groups,” he explained. The solution to this political kink must be respectable, inclusive and acceptable for Naga.

On the other hand, nscn-im, the most armed insurgent group in Nagaland, is demanding the removal of Nagaland Governor Ravinder Narayan Ravi. Nscn IM has said that if R N Ravi continues as governor in Nagaland, unrest will spread across the north east. This governor Ravinder Narayan Ravi is causing unrest in north-Purvanchal. NSCN-IM alleged that Governor Ravinder Narayan Ravi is directing Assam rifle jawans over instructions to kill NSCN-IM. The NSCN-IM on Tuesday targeted nagaland governor and negotiator for peace talks R N Ravi and demanded the appointment of a new interlocutor to carry forward the peace talks. The Naga militant group said in a statement that the Central government should appoint a new interlocutor to carry forward the peace talks.

“The 23-year political dialogue, which has been going through six successive prime ministers, is being wasted because of the mischievous act of the negotiator and the negotiators have become a burden,” the group said. The NSCN-IM leadership is currently in Delhi and two official level talks have been held in the last few days. The NSCN-IM alleged that Ravi’s “wrong actions” created a “tense” situation between the parties for the peace talks and the situation is now reaching a difficult point. However, on today, the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) said there was no need to close the Joint Legislators ‘ Forum (JLF) on the Naga political issue at this crucial and late junction of the Indo-Naga political dialogue. It was observed that the Forum has been successfully playing the role of an active architect in the Indo-Naga peace process since its in-constitute in 2009. In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Nipihu Rio on November 2 on the proposal of opposition leader Tr Zeliang, the PDA reiterated its resolve to continue the JLF on August 20 at a meeting at the chief Minister’s residential complex in Kohima.
