Mumbai : Behind every LPG cylinder delivered across India lies a highly coordinated, technology-driven system working in real time. At the heart of this network is HPCL’s centralised control and monitoring framework, enabling seamless management of demand, dispatch, and delivery across the country.
Between April 1 and May 1, 2026, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) delivered 392 lakh LPG cylinders nationwide, demonstrating its ability to manage large-scale demand through integrated digital systems and operational intelligence. On May 1 alone, HPCL delivered 8.6 lakh LPG cylinders, highlighting the system’s ability to dynamically respond to daily demand fluctuations.
Real-Time Demand, Real-Time Response
HPCL’s control systems continuously track consumption trends, booking patterns, and inventory levels across regions—allowing for instant decision-making and demand balancing.
During the period, the company recorded:
• 12,94,451 KL of Motor Spirit (MS) and 22,19,479 KL of High-Speed Diesel (HSD)
• On May 1, 45,942 KL of MS and 68,063 KL of HSD were supplied
To support this scale:
• 2,29,863 tankers were dispatched nationwide, ensuring uninterrupted movement of fuels
• 3,590 tankers were deployed on May 1 alone, responding to real-time requirements across markets
This integrated monitoring ensures that supply is constantly aligned with demand—minimising delays and preventing shortages.
Digital Backbone Driving Efficiency
A key enabler of this system is HPCL’s digital-first LPG ecosystem, where 99.5% of LPG bookings are made online
Each booking—whether via app, IVRS, or digital platforms—feeds directly into the central system, triggering:
• Automated allocation to distributors
• Route optimisation for delivery
• Real-time tracking of fulfilment
This ensures faster turnaround times, transparency, and improved consumer experience.
Supporting Changing Consumption Patterns
The control room also tracks evolving consumer behaviour, particularly the rising demand for smaller cylinders.
Between April 1 and May 1, HPCL recorded:
• 7,96,680 units of 5 kg cylinders sold, including 9,137 units on May 1
• 27,155 units of 2 kg cylinders sold, including 156 units on May 1
These cylinders are increasingly supporting migrant workers, small vendors, and urban consumers, enabling flexible and affordable energy access.
Built on Discipline and Oversight
While technology drives efficiency, HPCL continues to maintain strict oversight across its distribution network.
Between March 14 and May 1, 2026, the company:
• Conducted 6,359 inspections
• Initiated 177 actions against distributors, including 34 suspensions
• Carried out 664 raids
• Registered 44 FIRs
• Seized 4,155 cylinders
This ensures that the system remains not just efficient, but also fair, accountable, and consumer-first.
Powering India Through Intelligence
HPCL’s control room is more than a monitoring centre—it is the nerve centre of a national energy network, enabling the company to anticipate demand, optimise supply, and respond instantly to changing conditions.
From metros to remote regions, this real-time coordination ensures that millions of households receive uninterrupted energy—quietly, efficiently, and reliably.
HPCL reiterated its commitment to leveraging technology, strengthening operational systems, and delivering energy at scale, ensuring that India’s growing and dynamic demand is met with precision and consistency.
