Normal life across Odisha, particularly in western districts, has been severely paralyzed following an intense heat wave condition, which is prevailing for more than a week.
As many as 15 places of the State recorded temperature over 40 degree Celsius today.
Mercury rose to 45.8 degree Celsius in Titilagarh followed by 45.5 degree Celsius in Bolangir and 44.6 in Sambalpur today. Most of the Western Odisha towns have crossed 43 degrees Celsius.
According to sources, at least 31 people have reportedly lost their lives due to sunstroke in different places of the State so far.
Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre said, the temperature will remain above normal by two to three degree Celsius at some places in interior Odisha for three to four days. The Met office also said, hot and humid weather is likely to prevail in coastal parts of the State for next few days.
