As the war between the terrorist group Hamas and Israel hit the one-month mark, 1,400 people have been killed and over 200 taken hostage in Israel. More than 10,000 people have been killed in Gaza according to the Hamas-run health ministry, including more than 4,100 children. People across Israel are marking one month since Hamas’s 7 October attacks that marked the beginning of the conflict.

Dozens of deaths have been reported after blasts in the southern Gaza Strip today. At least 23 people were killed in two separate Israeli air strikes in Rafah and Khan Younis. The IDF said it took control of a Hamas stronghold in the northern Gaza Strip overnight.

As fighting continues on eight main fronts in the northern Gaza Strip, the humanitarian situation in northern Gaza is severe. Most large bakeries are closing their doors due to a lack of flour and fuel.

Around 600 foreign nationals are on the daily list to leave Gaza for Egypt via the Rafah border. Israel says 70 more aid trucks have crossed the border into Gaza today.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that his country will have overall security responsibility over the Gaza Strip for an indefinite period after the war against Hamas ends. He said he would consider tactical little pauses in Gaza fighting to facilitate the entry of aid or the exit of hostages, but again rejected calls for a general ceasefire.
