New Delhi: Congress leader Jairam Ramesh today rebutted Finance Minister Nirmala Sithraman’s statement on Congress party manifesto saying that GDP growth and job creation were higher under the UPA government in comparison to NDA. He said, UPA ended its tenure with a lower fiscal deficit and national debt than the Modi government. Mr. Ramesh criticized the BJP government for rising unemployment and price rise during their tenure.
Yesterday, BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman questioned the feasibility of the Congress’ Nyay Patra manifesto, terming it lofty promises that could be fiscally expensive. She asked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to explain how their gigantic schemes of fiscal splurge would work without increasing taxes or borrowing heavily and running down the economy.
