JK Tyre’s world-class tyre research institute – ‘HASETRI’ receives NABL accreditation for outdoor tyre testing

Bengaluru : In an effort to augment India’s tyre testing capabilities in accordance with the global benchmarks, Indian tyre industry major, JK Tyre & Industries Ltd, has added another significant accreditation in its name. JK Tyre’s independent research Institute – “Hari Shankar Singhania Elastomer & Tyre Research Institute (HASETRI)” got accreditation from the prestigious National Accreditation Board for Testing & Calibration Laboratories (NABL) for outdoor regulatory testing as per ISO/IEC 17025:2017. With this, HASETRI becomes the first Scientific & Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO), recognized by DSIR, Govt. of India and an independent tyre Testing and Research Institute in India to receive such an accreditation from NABL.

Housed at the Company’s world-class R&D hub – “Raghupati Singhania Centre of Excellence” (RPSCOE) in Mysuru, HASETRI is one of the leading research institutes in Asia in the field of Rubber & Tyre Technology. The center is committed to the introduction of ground-breaking technologies and new products that cater to the current and emerging needs of customers across the world.

Under the scope for outdoor testing, the accreditation includes testing for Wet Grip and Coast by Noise for C1 (passenger) & C2 (light truck) category tyres as per ECE R117 method. The indoor tyre testing facilities for regulatory requirement like Rolling Resistance, Endurance and dynamic Growth etc. have already been accredited by NABL as per ISO/IEC 17025:2017.

Dr. R Mukhopadhyay, Director &CE- HASETRI said, “Once again, we are honored to receive such a prestigious accreditation from NABL. This is a recognition of our persistent efforts to upgrade the tyre testing infrastructure in India in accordance with international standards. The primary goal of HASETRI is to foster the development and evolution of new technologies for rubber and allied industries, and we are going to continuously work towards driving innovation in this direction.”

Additionally, HASETRI’s Rolling Resistance test facility is aligned with European reference laboratory and has got candidate laboratory status as per R117 requirement.
