Judicial commission on Dhalpur police firing received 23 written petitions on day one

MANGALDAI :: The judicial inquiry commission, headed by Justice (Retd) B D Agarwal which has been constituted by the government to probe into the police firing incident at Dhalpur, Sipajhar on September 23 last has received altogether 23 sets of memoranda from different stake holders including family members of the victims , public organization and other individuals here at the make shift office of the commission in the circuit house on February 2 .

 There were many other organizations and individuals who had also assembled in the circuit house campus on the day either to submit written statement or to appear as witnesses.. But the written statements were not received reportedly for not being in order while the procedures to record the verbal statements are yet to begin. The commission has made its intentions clear to receive the memoranda or written statements of all the interested people on another date likely to be scheduled after next three weeks. “There is rousing response from the people of the both sides – one against the government action and the other supporting the government action . Today we received altogether twenty three written statements or memoranda mostly from the individuals except one organization . There were some other people with written statements.

 However those couldn’t be received for not being correct or defective. ”, said Justice (Retd) B.D. Agarwal while talking to ANN at the end of the day’s procedures.“ We will announce another date after three weeks time for receiving the remaining written statements. The inquiry is observed to become voluminous which I had not expected at the beginning.” , he maintained. “ Copies of each of the statement have been given both to the civil as well as police administration so that they can make their specific replies on the allegations at the time of their turn.”, the chairman of the commission Agarwal included. Dr Dhrubajyoti Hazarika , the secretary of the commission along with other senior officials also accompanied the chairman during the visits.
