Karbi Anglong Agreement signed in Assam, 1000 cadres lay down arms

GUWAHATI : The Karbi Anglong Agreement was signed on Saturday in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. After the agreement, Amit Shah said that the historic Karbi Anglong Agreement has been signed. The Modi government is committed to resolving the decades-old crisis and ensuring the territorial integrity of Assam. He said that this day will definitely be written with golden letters in the history of Assam and Karbi region.

 About 1000 cadres of more than 5 organizations have started entering the mainstream with weapons. He said that in respect of Karbi Anglong, the Assam government will spend Rs 1000 crore for the development of one region in five years.It is the policy of the Narendra Modi Government that we fulfil all the conditions of the agreement that we make in our own time. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and representatives of several rebel groups attended the meeting on the agreement in Delhi. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that two tribal groups Bodo and Karbi wanted to separate from Assam in Assam. The Bodo Agreement was signed in 2009 and opened a new path of development by settling the territorial integrity of Assam.

The Karbi Agreement was reached. This will bring peace to karbi anglong area. Moreover, the Chief Minister said that we will work for their rehabilitation. They will get reservation in hills autonomous council. The Council will get Rs.1000 crores, out of which 500 crore will be given by the Centre and 500 crore by the State Government. Let me tell you that Karbi is a major ethnic group in Assam which was involved in illegal activities like killings, ethnic violence, kidnapping since 1980.
