Karnataka state Government has sought a special package of 4000 crore rupees from the Central Government to compensate the losses caused by incessant rain since June.
Revenue Minister R Ashoka informed this to media persons in Bengaluru today after a video conference held with the Prime Minister.
Saying that the package was requested during the meeting with the Prime Minister, the Revenue minister said that a sum of 395 crore rupees has been sought as an emergency measure immediately.
Central assistance was sought to conduct a study of areas prone to landslides.
Help was sought to set up an early warning mechanism to flooding in Cauvery, Krishna Rivers and in Western Ghats and also a permanent solution to flooding.
The state appealed to the Prime Minister to include sea erosion counter measures in the National Cyclone Mitigation Relief Project and sanction financial assistance.
The Minister R Ashoka informed that 56 taluks and 885 villages have faced the onslaught of heavy showers, 3000 houses, standing crop on 80,000 hectare, 3500 kilometers roads, 104 minor irrigation lakes and 394 buildings are adversely impacted.
