Karnataka reports 7,571 new COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours

Bangaluru: In Karnataka 7,571 new COVID-19 cases were reported during the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 2,64,546. 6,561 COVID patients recovered from the disease from various hospitals in the State and the total recovery has gone up to 1,76,942.  93 people lost their life during this period and the total number of death toll has risen to 4,522.  The State recovery rate is continuous to improve reaching  66.88 percent and the mortality rate decline to 1.71 percent.  

The State conducted 57,623 swab tests across the State in 100  testing centers and the total number of tests have gone up to 23,14,485.  83,066 active COVID patients are under treatment in the State among them 698 are in ICU.  Meanwhile the Medical Education Minister Dr. K. Sudhaker said that the government understands the problems faced by the Doctors during these tough times of COVID-19 pandemic. He further said that an inquiry headed by the Mysuru  Regional Commissioner has been ordered to investigate the  suicide committed by the Nanjangud taluk doctor S.R.Nagendra and  submit the report within 7 days. The government also announced Rs.50 lakh as compensation and a government job to the deceased doctors wife.
