KVIC sponsored 2,320 PMEGP units across J&K: Chairperson

In Jammu and Kashmir, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), has disbursed subsidy of 50.85 crore rupees through Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) to 2,320 units set up under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) Scheme during the current financial year.  

Addressing media persons in Jammu today,  KVIC Chairman Vinay Kumar Saxsena, said that the units set up under PMEGP have provided employment to 16,240 persons in J&K.  

In Khadi sector, J&K recorded production of 30.25 Crore rupees and sales of 32.75 Crore rupees through the local Khadi Institutions, providing employment to 15,257 persons. One of the heritage products of J&K, Pashmina Shawl, is being produced by 11 major institutions which are mostly working in South Kashmir.
