Maharashtra govt allows opening of wildlife sanctuaries in Sangli district

Mumbai: Under Maharashtra government’s ‘Mission Begin Again’ program, the state has allowed opening of wildlife sanctuaries in Sangli district. The sanctuaries of Chandoli and Sagareshwar in the district will open after eight months for the tourists from today.

With Covid cases in decline in the state and tourist season knocking at the door, Maharashtra government has decided to open the wild life sanctuaries in the Sangli district to boost the tourism industry in the state which has been experiencing a tough phase since lockdown was imposed due to Corona pandemic. Both Chandoli and Sagareshwar sanctuaries in Sangli district, which is being considered as a major tourist destination in the region, have been opened for tourists from today.

Both the sanctuaries  have been closed for the last eight months due to corona. Due to heavy rains in both Chandoli and Sagareshwar this year, the nature of this place is full of beauty. Paddy extraction is almost underway in Shirala Taluka and preparations for Rabi season are underway in Palus taluka. Citizens are expressing satisfaction over the opening of these two tourist areas. Primary facilities are being provided for tourists in Chandoli dam area.
