Mangaldai MP concerned over large scale migration of youths to other states for in search of jobs

Mangaldai : Ahead of the beginning of the construction works of the Assam Skill University, district skill committee ,Darrang on Wednesday organised a district level skill development workshop on the topic ”Skill ecosystem and analysis on skill prospect of Darrang” here at the District Library Auditorium in Mangaldoi. The day long workshop with Deputy Commissioner, Dilip Kumar Borah in the chair aimed mainly at changing the outlook of the youths from being “employment seeker” to “employment creator”, the workshop witnessed the participation of school and college students from various institutions, apart from youngsters looking for opportunities in the field of entrepreneurship and self-employment.
Speakers including Member of Parliament (MP) Dilip Saikia, local Member of Legislative Assembly Gurujyoti Das , State Project Officer ,Assam Skill Development Mission Ashok Baisya , renowned industrialist Anupam Deka, young entrepreneur Sumanjyoti Deka among others appealed to the youths of the district to grab every opportunities available by skilling themselves with the help of the various schemes of the government. MP Saikia specifically pointed out the immense opportunities skills such as plumbing, carpentry, among others offers, while at the same time lamenting the exodus of Assamese youths every year for a meagre amount of salary as security guards in private companies in different cities of the country including Bangalore and Delhi. He expressed hope that workshops such as this would encourage the youngsters realise the opportunities that comes with being skilled in one field or the other. MLA Das underscored the role the upcoming Skill University would play in the overall growth and development of the district in general and the youths in particular. Prominent entrepreneurs Anupam Deka, Sumanjyoti Deka, among others, also enlightened the participants with their experience in the field of business and how to face the challenges that lie ahead in that path.
