Minister distributes assistive devices to divyangjan in Chirang

Kajalgaon: Minister for Handloom and Textile, Sericulture, Soil Conservation and Welfare of Bodoland department Urkhao Gwra Brahma on Tuesday distributed aids and assistive devices to divyangjan and senior citizens under Assistance to Disabled Persons for purchase/Fitting of Aids/Appliances (ADIP) and Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) of the Government of India’s Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment at a ceremonial programme held at Kajalgaon District Parade Ground in Chirang.

The minister distributed wheel chairs, axillary crutches, tripods, walking sticks, spinal support kits, walking folders, hearing aids, silicon foam cushion, and many other aids.

Sidli MLA Jayanta Basumatary, Bijni MLA Ajay Kumar Ray, BTR Executive Member Ranjit Basumatary, Chirang Deputy Commissioner Narendra Kumar Shah and Bijni Civil Sub-Divisional Officer Rahul Gupta were also present in the program.

Addressing the gathering, Brahma said that such assistive devices initiative would tremendously help to empower the People with Disabilities (PwD) physically, psychologically and socially.

He also said that the present government had taken several steps for the welfare of the PwDs so that they could live a respectable life.
