Minor girls gangraped and killed, confirms police

Kokrajhar : Police on Tuesday revealed that the two minors found hanging from a tree under mysterious circumstances at Abhiyakuthi village in Assam’s Kokrajhar district on 11 June last were gang-raped and murdered.

Addressing media in Kokrajhar today, Assam Director General of Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta said the two minors were first gangraped and murdered. The DGP said three main accused persons who were fully involved in the gang rape and murder of minor girls confessed their crime.

He said seven persons including three main accused- Nasibul Ali Sk and Forizul Rahman and Muzammel Seikh –all of Salbari village under Kokrajhar police station were arrested and case under Sec 376, 376(A), 376(D), 376(D/A), Sec 6 of POSCO Act 2012, Sec 3 (1)(W) of SC/SC Act. registered.

He said the police will try to take the case in fast track court and establish the case strongly in the court.

He informed that a Crime scene recreation exercise was also done in presence of Magistrate and Forensic expert today.

“Further follow-up is going on and in this regard a SIT is already formed and investigation is constantly supervised and monitored, he said.

The DGP said on 11th June a suspected suicide case was reported from Abhayakuti village under Kokrajhar Police station. “On getting the information, team of kokrajhar police was immediately sent at the PO and dead bodies were brought to Kokrajhar for further follow-up action. In this regard, an FIR was lodged for suspected murder and Kokrajhar PS case no 440/2021 was registered and investigated into. Further investigation was carried out scientifically & professionally and on pursuing the clues, 7 numbers of accused persons were apprehended. Thorough examination of the accused persons unearthed the whole gamut of crime committed by the accused persons, he said adding that human and technical intelligence were instrumental in solving the case in very short time.

He said the Assam police will not tolerate any kind of crime, especially on children and women and many measures are being taken for the wellbeing, safety and security of women and children.
