GUWAHATI: In Assam, campaigning for the first phase of polling has intensified as star campaigners arrive. Star campaigners from various parties as well as children of top leaders have also joined the election campaign. There is a sharp battle between the Congress Alliance and the BJP alliance. For 2 days, Indian ethnic Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi have been campaigning for the Congress party.
On the one hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the other hand, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are accusing each other in their own words. Addressing an election rally in Jorhat district of Assam today, Priyanka Gandhi made several allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra alleged that she was saddened by a tweet by a 22-year-old woman, but not for those devastated by the floods in Assam. A day after Modi raised the issue of toolkit and Congress alleged conspiracy at an election rally in Chabua in Assam, Priyanka Gandhi said Modi was silent about the hardships of the people during the flood. About 28 lakh people were affected by last year’s flood in the Brahmaputra during the Corona virus epidemic. He questioned Modi as to why he was not unhappy with the flood-affected people and the anti-CAA movement in which five youths were killed.
The Congress leader questioned Modi, “Why didn’t you come to Assam when people were drowning? Why were you not unhappy when all the big promises made by the BJP were not fulfilled? Did you go to the tea garden and talk to the workers about their difficulties? On the prime minister’s statement of the ‘double engine’ government in Assam, Priyanka joked that there are “two chief ministers” in the state. He made this remark while referring to the ongoing pull-up of power between powerful Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. “The Prime Minister said that you have a double engine government, but Assam has two chief ministers. I don’t know which fuel will run from which engine. Assam government is not running in Assam… God saved you. The Congress leader also alleged that the BJP government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have cheated on all sections of the society, including the youth, farmers and tea plantation workers of the country, as it did not fulfil any of its promises made five years ago.
