Guwahati : Modi on March 30, Rahul to campaign on April 3-4.Star campaigners of both BJP and Congress hit the campaign trail in Assam after Holi to shore up chances of their respective candidates on the 5 Lok Sabha seats of the state going to polls in the first phase on April 11. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Assam on Saturday to address two election campaigns in Gohpur and Moran. Congress president Rahul Gandhi will campaign for the party’s Lok Sabha candidates for the Kaliabor, Lakhimpur, Silchar and Karimganj constituencies on April 3-4. Gandhi will take part in a public meeting at Bokakhat on April 3.
On the same day, Gandhi will also participate in a Congress party rally at Lakhimpur. On April 4, the Congress president will visit Karimganj and Silchar for electioneering. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah on Thursday addressed massive election rallies in Jorhat and Nagaon. All the key parties in the state are braced up for high voltage poll campaign after Holi celebration with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi, BJP national president Amit Shah, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Union ministers and several national leaders of the BJP and Congress are set to address a series of public meetings in the state during the next four weeks. Meanwhile Trinamool Congress (TMC) Chief Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to visit Assam on April 5. The West Bengal Chief Minister will hold a public rally at Dhubri to campaign for TMC Lok Sabha candidates. This time, TMC is contesting from nine of the 14 constituencies in the state. Mamata Banerjee is also expected to come to Assam again later to hold rallies in other locations – As per TMC sources.
