More than 2 lakh 60 thousand rights’ certificates distributed to vanvasis in state

Bhopal: The work of distributing land rights’ certificates to forest dwellers on forest land is in progress. Till now, individual and collective claims of over 2 lakh 60 thousand forest land have been accepted by the Tribal Welfare Department. Revision of claims revoked earlier is being done by the department.

The department has recognized 2 lakh 38 thousand 405 individual claims and 29 thousand 996 community claims of forest dwellers. The forest dwellers who have got their rights’ certificates are also being provided assistance under various schemes of the state government. Diesel and electric pumps have been provided to about 62 thousand forest dwellers for housing, for Kapil Dhara to 55 thousand forest dwellers, land leveling to 60 thousand forest dwellers and irrigation facility to about 25 thousand forest dwellers.

Madhya Pradesh ranks first in the country in cases of collective claims. Habitat Rites of 7 settlements of special backward tribe groups have been given first in Madhya Pradesh under the Forest Rights Act. Forest rights committees have been formed at three levels in the state for the implementation of forest rights. These committees are working at the village level, subdivision and district level. Implementation of Forest Rights Act in the state started from January 2008. The Forest Rights Act was first implemented in Madhya Pradesh in the country. The process of maintenance, transfer and sharing of records of forest rights certificate holders has been determined by the Forest Department. Tribal Affairs Department has made one lakh 56 thousand records and documents available to the Forest Department for maintenance.

MP Van Mitra portal for review of claims

M.P. Van Mitra portal has been prepared to review the claims rejected at all levels in the state. The canceled claims are being reviewed through the Van Mitra application in the portal. Profiles have been updated by the Panchayat Secretaries in the M.P.Van Mitra portal.
