Mumbai is witnessing incessant rain for second consecutive day. Parts of Mumbai and adjoining areas have reported heavy overnight rain and the wet spell continued this morning too. The Indian Meterological Department(IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain in Mumbai and surrounding areas all through the coming week.
IMD’s deputy director-general western region K S Hosalikar said in his tweet today that intense rainfall in Mumbai and the suburbs were recorded in the last 24 hours. Parts of Mumbai and suburbs including Colaba, Kandivali, Borivali, Mira Road, Bhayandar, Chembur and Nerul are some of the localities that recorded very heavy rainfall since last two days. Hosalikar also said that on August 1, Mumbai, Thane and the Konkan coast are likely to receive very heavy rainfall.
Due to heavy downpour waterlogging has been reported in several low-lying areas of the city. Yesterday, Dadar and Hindmata areas, faced severe waterlogging following heavy rain and traffic congestion was also seen in the Vashi area of Navi Mumbai. Mumbai has already received excess rainfall for the month of July. There is a forecast of heavy rain in Mumbai and interiors of Maharashtra as well in the next 48 hours.
