Dimapur: Amidst informal talks with the Centre, the NSCN (Isak Muivah) stressed that the process for reconciliation and unity among the Nagas and political talks should go on side by side.
The outfit held a meeting with the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO) in its bid to take everyone on board for Naga unity and reconciliation here on Wednesday. The ENPO was joined by the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) and Eastern Naga Mothers’ Association (ENMA).
The NSCN leaders also briefed the three organisations of eastern Nagaland on the development of the ongoing Indo-Naga political talks.
Stating that the meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere, the outfit appreciated the ENPO for its stand for an honourable, acceptable and early solution of the Indo-Naga issue. It also lauded the ENPO for its consistency in pushing for Naga unity and reconciliation.
The NSCN team was led by its chairman Q. Tuccu and vice chairman Tongmeth Wangnao while the ENPO was led by its president Kekongchim Yimchunger.
On September 4, the NSCN (IM) held a consultative meeting with the Nagaland Gaon Buras Federation (NGBF) on the ongoing Indo-Naga peace process. The meeting resolved to strengthen the ongoing Indo-Naga peace talks and seek for an honourable, acceptable, early and lasting solution of the issue.
It stressed that the cry for reconciliation and unity within the Naga family must be respected. It said the effort to come together of all the Naga political groups should be pursued with all seriousness in the larger political interest of the Naga people and their posterity.
While the NSCN (IM) is seeking replacement of RN Ravi, also the Nagaland governor, as the Centre’s interlocutor for Naga talks, the Naga National Political Groups and the NGBF want solution to the Naga issue soon without changing the interlocutor.
In a representation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month, 14 apex Naga tribal hohos of Nagaland, including NGBF, sought an early solution but without replacing Ravi as interlocutor.
The NSCN (IM) said Ravi twisted the Framework Agreement and misled the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the steps taken to solve the Naga issue.
The group accused him of committing a breach of confidential documents by circulating the “doctored Framework Agreement and competencies” to the Naga leaders that he favoured after removing a word “new” that virtually changed the meaning of a sentence in the Framework Agreement.
It wanted that the pact be handled by somebody other than Ravi, who is sensitive enough to understand and respect what has been achieved during the past 23 years.
