Mangaldai : Major (Dr) Leena Saikia , Associate NCC Officer (ANO) under 73 Assam Girls (I) , Coy , NCC , Tezpur and the Head of the Zoology Department Mangaldai College has been honoured with a prestigious Plaque from Director General , NCC , New Delhi as a recognition to her eighteen long years sincere service to NCC . She is the only officer selected from her group. Maitreyee Hazariak, Bikash Prashad and G Mandal are reportedly three other awardees from the North East . The award was ceremonially handed over in a function organized at NCC , Head Quarters , Paltan Bazar , Guwahati on Tuesday which was attended by Director General ,NCC ,Lt General Tarun Kumar Aich and Additional Director General, Maj General Ananta Bhuyan among others . It may be mentioned here that Major (Dr) Saikia is a ‘C’ certificate holder NCC officer and she has the distinction of attending the Republic Day Camp in 2019 . Meanwhile talking to this correspondent , Dr Saikia said , ” Recognition of my long service at the fag end of my professional career has delighted me a lot .”
