GUWAHATI : In a major development, Railway Ministry has announced the running of two bi-weekly special Rajdhani trains between Dibrugarh and New Delhi. The trains will start operating from October 12 and October 15 respectively. The Rajdhani Express, bearing number 02505, which will cover the Dibrugarh-New Delhi route, will cross over the Bogibeel Bridge, and for the first time halt at some important North Bank stations like North Lakhimpur, Harmuti and Rangapara before continuing its journey forward.
The Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on the commencement of operation of bi- weekly Rajdhani Express via the Bogibeel Bridge from Monday. In a statement, the Chief Minister said that a new era of rail communication began as the bi-weekly Rajdhani Express, connecting the region with New Delhi, started its operation through Bogibeel Bridge from Monday. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal for strengthening the rail network in the north eastern region.
