No separate budget for agriculture: Minister

New Delhi: The Government has made it clear that there is no proposal to introduce a separate budget for agriculture. Answering questions in the Lok Sabha, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar said, the Government gives topmost priority to agriculture, adding, the vision for the prosperity of the farmers is reflected in the Union Budget itself. The minister said, in the Union Budget, the substantial allocation has been made for agriculture, which has increased by 379 percent to nearly 1,32,514 crore rupees in 2022-23, as compared to 2013-14. He recalled that the Railway Budget has also been unified with the General Budget, which has proved to be effective.
