Dimapur: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on Thursday said it was appalled at the “blatant disregard” to its sentiments by the Nagaland Public Health Engineering Department’s Chief Engineer’s office. It said the department issued a press release for conducting the departmental examination on January 13 for recruitment to various Group C posts.

Reiterating its earlier stand for a complete ban on all departmental examinations for recruitment to Group C posts until the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) is implemented in the State, the federation said all existing vacancies must be requisitioned through the NSSB only.

NSF president Ninoto Awomi and general secretary Liremo R Kikon, in a release, urged the department to refrain from going ahead with the proposed departmental examination by respecting the aspirations of the youths and student community while also aiding the push for promoting meritocracy in the government job market.

The Federation warned that it will be compelled to take actions deemed fit if the department concerned and all other departments take any action in contravention to this public appeal. It appealed to all the aspiring candidates to cooperate with it and abstain from the proposed departmental examination in “our collective bid to uphold and protect the future of the youths and student community”.

The federation urged Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and his cabinet colleagues to fast track the process of implementing the NSSB in the State.

“An amicable solution to the issue of ‘reservation and reservation policies’ which have been stalling the NSSB must be brought out at the earliest for the overall benefit of the students and youth community in the State as indefinitely withholding the NSSB will prove detrimental to the State as a whole,” the apex student body of the State said.
