LONDON: Ankit Love, founder and president of One Love Party has announced that it will contest all seats in the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections that according to a Supreme Court notice against Election Commission of India must be lawfully conducted by 30 September 2024. Love in June attended the Supreme Court of India to file the winning plea along with advocate Ajay Singh former assistant to the late advocates couple Prof. Bhim Singh and Jay Mala.
Ankit Love who studied biology at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge University, founded One Love Party in October 2015, along with a fellow dormitory mate and Cambridge graduate. The One Love Party’s first electoral contest was the London Mayoral elections in May 2016, where Ankit Love secured over 33,000 votes, (over 28,000 second choice votes and 5,000 first choice votes). Love in a live television broadcast of the result from City Hall, was the first to congratulate Sadiq Khan, in his historic first win as the Mayor of London.
One Love Party subscribes to a new school of thought, the techno-progressive ideology. Techno-progressives believe in peacefully applying technological advances directly and expediently in resolving social, economic and nature related issues. Ankit Love wants to develop J&K as the most advanced and developed state in the world. Love’s pragmatic hope is underpinned by ensuring that revenues from the recently discovered 5.9 million tonnes of lithium found in J&K are correctly managed and invested to create world class infrastructure for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“I want to build the best and most advanced free hospitals for our people, as well as high level universities, office buildings and international airports. I want to develop ecologically friendly hotels and ski resorts to stimulate the J&K economy and job opportunities like never before. Further, and most importantly I want to create the most developed, advanced and well run orphanages to cater for the 220,000 conflict orphans in our state. Together we can make J&K the greatest state in the world, as it deserves.” Love said.
