Over 3 dozen passengers stranded at Sadhna-Top in north Kashmir

In Jammu & Kashmir, over three dozen passengers remain stranded at Sadhna-Top in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district for the third consecutive day today following heavy snowfall on Friday.

The passengers were on way from Kupwara to Tangdhar and vice versa when they were stuck at Sadhna-Top on Friday.

An old aged woman among stranded passengers died due to cold at Sadhna-Top Friday evening.

Official sources said that amid harsh weather conditions the administration is actively working with Army to airlift stranded passengers.

Local transport is badly affected due to heavy snowfall with snow depth of at least 3 to 5 feet in various areas of district.

Meanwhile, Tangdar and Kupwara people have reiterated their demand of all weather tunnel on Sadhna-Top. 

They said the tunnel could provide round the year connectivity and ensure safety of passengers travelling from Tangdar to Kupwara and vice versa.
