In Uttar Pradesh, authorities have ordered the closure of 24 big industrial units in Ghaziabad district during the Kumbh Mela.
The units include slaughter houses, paper mills, textile industries and distilleries.
The move is to keep the Ganga clean and prevent the release of untreated effluent and waste water in the river.
According to Ghaziabad District Magistrate, M Ritu Maheshwari closure orders will remain in force till the end of Kumbh Mela that is fourth of March.
