PM interacts with CMs of 10 high COVID burden States; Discusses creation of more ICU beds, COVID care facilities, easy movement of Medical Oxygen carriers

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today reviewed the COVID situation in the country and interacted with Chief Ministers of ten States reporting a high number of corona cases.

Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Gujarat, Delhi, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu attended the virtual meet. These states account for nearly 75 per cent of the total new cases reported daily.

AIR Correspondent has reported that the Prime Minister discussion primarily focused on creation of more ICU beds and COVID care facilities in these high burden COVID reporting states. He also stressed on the need to facilitate movement of Medical Oxygen carriers for its easy accessibility.

During the meeting Mr. Modi reiterated the need to scale up testing and creation of micro-containment zones for better management of the pandemic. Home Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal were also present in the meeting.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Modi also reviewed the emerging situation of COVID-19 in the country in a meeting with top government officials.

The Prime Minister is holding an interaction with leading Oxygen manufacturers in the country to take stock of the production and supply of medical oxygen amid its rising demand across states reporting a surge in COVID cases.
