Guwahathi: Police personnel can present themselves as true friends in front of people.The Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today dedicated the new building of Jagiroad police station under Mission for Overall Improvement of Thana for Responsive Image (MOITRI) scheme at a programme held at Jagiroad. With the inauguration of the new building infrastructural facilities have been put in place for overall improvement of the police station, re-dedicating the force to the service of people, creating people-friendly environment with a modern scientific human approach.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sonowal said that the present state government took a pragmatic step for the infrastructural development of the police stations to enable the police forces to work in accordance with the changing dynamics of the commission of crime. He, further said that the previous State governments only sought services from the police forces without any corresponding infrastructural and technological support to them. However, the MOITRI scheme being implemented throughout the state has been in a position to aid the police forces to empower themselves with regard to submitting the charge sheet expeditiously, delivery of the justice processes for justice to both victims and culprits.
Sonowal also said that Assam police have become a part of discussion because of its professionalism and commitment. The Assam police personnel have been working dedicatedly in securing the lives and properties of the people of the state. He also urged upon the police personnel to present themselves like true friends to the people. Welcome address of the programme was given by Superintendent of Police, Morigaon Dr. Nanda Singh Borkala. Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Pijush Hazarika, additional DGP (Law and Order) GP Singh also spoke on the occasion. MLA Morigaon Ramakanta Deuri, Chairman Assam Minorities Development Board Mominul Awal, Managing Director Assam Police Housing Development Corporation Limited Arabinda Kalita and a host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion. Sonowal also released a book written by SP Morigaon on the occasion.
