Rajya Sabha proceedings disrupted over Cauvery issue

AIADMK and DMK members stalled proceedings in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday over Cauvery issue. The House was adjourned for the day after repeated adjournments.

When the House re-assembled at 3 p.m. after the fourth adjournment, the slogan raising members from Tamil Nadu again trooped into the well of the House despite appeals by Deputy Chairman Harivansh to allow the House to function.

Earlier, Chairman Venkaiah Naidu named some of the agitating members, asking them to leave the House for disrupting the proceedings.

The agitating members refused to leave the well, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Goel accused them of not allowing Water Resources Minister Nitin Gadkari to make a statement on Cauvery issue. As the logjam continued, Deputy Chairman adjourned the House for the day.
