Relief and rescue operations are in full swing in flood affected areas of Assam and Bihar.

In Assam, there is no respite from flood fury in the state. Several rivers are flowing above the danger level. Nearly 27 lakh people are affected by flood water in 25 districts. The death toll has gone up to 91.

Meanwhile the Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has said that the government would not tolerate any sort of corruption in relief distribution among flood hit people.  He said that stern action would be taken if anyone indulged in corrupt practices during relief distribution.

In Bihar, relief and rescue operation is in full swing in flood affected areas of the state. 19 teams of NDRF and SDRF have been pressed into service for evacuation of affected people.

Thirty thousand people have been shifted to safer places. The state government has requested the people who are living in low areas of various rivers to shift to higher places. Over six lakh fifty thousand people have been affected by flood in ten districts including Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Gopalganj and Muzaffarpur. The worst-affected districts are Darbhanga, West Champaran and Supaul. 21 people have so far  lost their lives in rain-related incidents.
