Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has said that in order to create a unique space for exhibitors from India and abroad, two thousand crore rupees are being spent to revamp Pragati Maidan in the national capital.
He was speaking at the closing ceremony of the 39th India International Trade Fair 2019 this evening. Mr Goyal said, the trade fair this year saw footfall of around 5 lakh visitors and hoped that after the revamp of Pragati Maidan which will be completed next year, it will see more than 10 lakh visitors who will be able to not only buy the unique products from different parts of the country and the world but also have a complete experience of the city of Delhi.
He said, in order to expand and strengthen the new India story, Government is preparing to invest 100 lakh crore rupees in infrastructure that will transform the availability and quality of infrastructure in India across all sectors. Mr Goyal reiterated that India today engages with countries from a position of strength so that India’s businesses and industries are protected and non-tariff barriers imposed by other countries do not affect India’s exports.
He further added that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is working on a plan to hold 4 mega shopping festivals to promote Indian products and services and to create more opportunities for new businesses. He urged the youth of the country to become entrepreneurs and transform India.

In the State and Union Territory categories, Bihar received Gold Medal, Assam got Silver while the Bronze was presented to Andhra Pradesh. Jharkhand and West Bengal were honoured with the Jury Recommendation Certificate.
In the Foreign Sector Category Syed Junaid Alam W.L.L., Bahrain received the Gold Medal, Tillo Hediyelik Esya San. Tic. Ltd. Turkey received the Silver and Shandong Brightway International Exhibition Corp. Ltd., China bagged the Bronze. Jury Recommendation Certificate was conferred to the SOCIETE
M,AIN D, OR DU CENTRE, Tunisia.
In the category of Ministries, Departments, PSUs, PSBs and Commodity Boards category, Ministry of Earth Sciences bagged the Gold Medal and the Silver Medal was presented to the Directorate General of Tax Payer Services, CBIC while the Khadi and Village Industries Commission won the Bronze Medal. Directorate of Income Tax (CBDT) and Coir Board were honoured with the Jury Recommendation Certificates.
In the Private Sector, M/s. Colour Dot Packagings (OXARO) won the Gold Medal, TATA Chemicals Limited received the Silver Medal and Vasu Healthcare Private Limited received the Bronze Medal.
Jury Recommendation Certificate was presented to Ellora Enterprises.
