Sarang meets Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers Sadanand Gowda

Bhopal: Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation Minister  Vishwas Kailash Sarang met Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister  Sadanand Gowda and reminding him about the establishment of Bhopal Gas Memorial in the campus, said that no guidelines have been issued by the Centre in this regard so far. In this connection, Chief Minister  Shivraj Singh Chouhan had written a letter to the Union Minister on December 3, 2020.  Sarang requested him to approve the proposal at the earliest so that construction work of Bhopal Gas Tragedy Memorial can be started.

Minister  Sarang met Union Minister  Sadanand Gowda and discussed the problems related with Bhopal gas tragedy.  Sarang told that as per the order of the Supreme Court, free treatment will be given to the gas victims and their children for life. As per the order of the Supreme Court, the state government has ensured free treatment of gas victims at primary and secondary levels in hospitals and dispensaries.   Sarang urged that a separate budget should be made available for gas victims from the budget head of the Central Chemicals and Petroleum Department, for the treatment of such gas victims who are suffering from cancer, kidney disease, liver and other serious diseases. Along with this,  Sarang restarted the pension scheme for widows suffering from gas tragedy which had been discontinued after July 2020. He demanded that the pension should be provided lifelong to the gas-affected widows. He informed that Rs. 5 crore is required per year at the rate of Rs one thousand monthly pension for 4721 widows. He urged that the said amount should be borne by the centre.

Union Minister  Sadanand Gowda assured to take a quick decision on the issued raised by  Sarang.
