The Supreme Court today said it is considering to appoint a former apex court judge to enquire into the encounter killings of four accused persons in the gang rape-and-murder case of a veterinarian in Telangana.

A bench headed by Chief Justice of India S A Bobde was hearing PILs, seeking an independent SIT probe into the encounter. The bench also comprising justices S A Nazeer and Sanjeev Khanna said that they are conscious of the fact that the Telangana High Court had taken note of the matter.

It said the top court only wanted that a former apex court judge should inquire into the case from Delhi. The bench posted the PILs for hearing tomorrow.
