Second child friendly police station of Assam opened in Mangaldai

Mangaldai :: The long pending need of a child friendly atmosphere in a police station for a child with conflict in law as often observed by the Apex court of the country has fulfilled in Mangaldai . Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pallabi Kachari and Additional Superintendent of Police ( HQ) ,Darrang , Rupam Phookan by cutting a ribbon have jointly opened the set up of a child friendly police station in a part of the existing women police station in a function organised here on August 4 last. This special kind police station which is stated to the second in the State after the Jalukbari in Guwahati and first in Darrang district was developed by the district child protection unit reportedly under JJ fund.

 The set up thus would facilitate a child conflict with law (CCL) a conducive atmosphere where he or she can pass time for necessary legal procedure without fear and panic. ” Strength of the set up is not a matter. Any child under conflict with law would be accomodated here for a maximum period of five days.” , said Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kachari while talking to this correspondent after the inauguration. The inaugural function moderated by outgoing District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) cum District Child Protection Officer (i/c) Madhuri Bora was attended by several senior officials from the judiciary , police and stake holder government agencies including Pompy Chakravarty, member secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Officer in Charge, Mangaldai Police Station inspector Mosco Saikia and newly joined DSWO Rajlakhi Deori among others.
