Shilagram Cultural Festival of North East India from today

GUWAHATI : From february 18, the Guwahati Panjabadi North Eastern Region Cultural Centre has organized a large cultural Shilagram festival of 8 states of north-east India. This year, the Northeast Region Cultural Center is inviting artists and craftsmen from the north. About 27 artists and craftsmen from eastern northeastern state each (i.e. folk dance cultural troupes include 15 artists, folk songs/music groups including 10 artists and 2 craftsmen) Besides local cultural troupes and popular, seven north eastern states are expected to participate in the event by singers from Assam. The first two days of the event will be presented by cultural troupes from Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya and Mizoram and Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura on the last two days. Exhibition-co-sales of handlooms and handicrafts and traditional food will also be held in all the four days.

The Shilagram festival will be inaugurated by Dr. Kuldhar Saikia, President, Assam Sahitya Sabha. However, the North Eastern Region cultural centre is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. (eight) North Eastern States, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura are the constituent States of the North Eastern Region Cultural Centre. The Northeast Region Cultural Center was established with the main objective of promoting and preserving the rich. On January 17, 2006, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh set up Shilagram at Guwahati Panjbari. Addressing a press conference today, Officer-in-Charge of North Eastern Region Cultural Centre, Alibhar T. Pongan and Coordinator of Shilagram Mahotsav-2021, Naba Kumar Bharali said that despite not being as much as it should have tried by the Union Government for the folk culture development of Northeast India, the North Eastern Region Cultural Centre is working as much as possible on its part. The central government has not given any funds for infrastructure development after 2006. That is why the North Eastern Region Cultural Centre has been lighting up discontent.
