Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), the country’s principal financial institution for the promotion, financing and development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), partners with Shri Gurudeva Charitable Trust (SGCT), Andhra Pradesh to help needy differently abled become Swavalambis (Entrepreneurs) by providing them with artificial limbs and street vending carts.
The first phase of this program commenced on the occasion of “International Day of Disabled Persons” where artificial limbs, street vending carts and other appliances were provided by SIDBI to 50 differently abled via SGCT. These differently abled started their Swavalamban journey on the same day.In the second phase of the said programme held today, 50 more needy differently abled were provided with street vending carts, artificial limbs, polio calipers, wheel chairs, tricycles etc. With this, 100 needy differently abled were benefitted with necessary support to stand on their own feet and earn their own bread.
Shri Vasantharao Satya Venkatarao, Deputy Managing Director of SIDBI, who participated as Chief Guest for the programme, said, “As a responsive development institution, SIDBI hasalways been laying thrust on livelihood avenues for youth, unserved, underserved,
unfunded and so on.He also expressed his satisfaction that with this support the differently abled will not only be self-reliant but also can go for reskilling/up skilling in future.Shri Rao also applauded the work of SGCT for bringing spark to the lives of differently abled by making them Swavalambis.”
On this occasion Shri R Jagadeesh Kumar, Chairman, SGCT thanked SIDBI for its customisedsupport which ensured not only artificial limbs but also enabled evolving of these differently abled as Swavalambis. He expressed that Swavalamban is a sustainable option and SGCT would like to extend this service to different parts of the country.
