Silver jubilee of Hunar Haat at Mysuru

Mysuru: Silver jubilee edition of Hunar Haat, was organized in Mysuru last week at Maharaja’s College Grounds. Hunar Haat is a flagship event of Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India under the USTTAD scheme. This event was inaugurated by Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers Dr. Sadanand Gowda, Member of Parliament Pratap Simha, Minister of Youth Empowerment Sports and Planning – Government of Karnataka, K.C. Narayan Gowda and Member of Legislative Assembly of Karnataka Government L. Nagendra. This is the first time Hunar Haat was organized in Karnataka. The event witnessed a daily footfall of more than 1 lakh unique visitors. All the locals who visited the venue were very happy and appreciated the ambience and the arrangements made. Some of them have even claimed that this kind of event has never been organized in Mysuru.

The ambience of the entire venue was inspired by various facets of culture of the people of Karnataka. The entrance gate was inspired from Mysuru place. There were various selfie points installed at the venue where the crowd were clicking numerous selfies. Food stalls of cuisines from all across the country were available. Lip smacking food were prepared by the culinary artists who had come from various parts of the country. Huge variety of artistic materials were available at the event. Artisans from all across the country had participated in this event and showcased their products. Many artisans have claimed to have daily sales of more than 1 lac INR. Hunar Haat has come as a major relief to such artisans whose business has been severely affected by COVID19.

This event has been organized in the middle of pandemic, so all the necessary COVID protocols were being followed. There were touchless hand sanitizer machines installed at the entry and exit points. Visitors without mask were not allowed to enter. Hand sanitizers were placed in all stalls. COVID19 awareness was displayed in the form of stickers throughout the venue. Videos and audios were played at the venue to spread awareness about COVID 19 protocols.

Overall, the event has been a grand success with visitors thronging the venue. The footfall was high throughout the event days. Infact, some of the visitors claimed they have come all the way from Bengaluru to Mysuru and planned their weekend in Mysuru to enjoy nearby places and to visit Hunar Haat.

Congratulations to Hunar Haat and Ministry of Minority Affairs team on organizing an amazing unique event in Mysuru. The 26th edition of Hunar Haat will be organized from 21st February 2021 till 2nd March 2021 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.
