Smuggler with fake Indian currency worth Rs 1.84 arrested in Guwahati.

GUWAHATI :The NIA has arrested a fake Indian Currency Note (FICN) smuggler from here on charges of alleged involvement in circulation of FICN. Sudeep Biswas was arrested on Wednesday, said an official of the investigating agency. The case relates to the seizure of FICN with a face value of Rs 1,84,000 crore from the possession of three accused during a search conducted by the police party of Paltan Bazar police station at Islampur Road near Solapara flyover in April 2019, an NIA official said. Earlier, chargesheets were filed against four accused in the case. A National Investigation Agency (NIA) official said Biswas along with Safikul Islam had conducted a FICN raid in Barpeta district of Assam and conspired with other accused to broadcast FICNS, which has sabotaged India’s economy.
