Sonowal visits COVID Care Centres at Sarusajai Sports Complex and Royal Global University

GUWAHATI : In view of the surging infections of the COVID 19 pandemic in Assam, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today visited COVID Care Centres set up at Sarusajai Sports Complex and Royal Global University, inspected the facilities put up there and talked to the COVID positive patients recuperating their infection at the centres. While talking to the positive patients over loud speaker, Sonowal told them, government is all prepared to provide best possible care to them. He also made it clear that in view of the spikes in positive cases, government has also ramped up its infrastructure to make sure that nobody is deprived of getting treatment.

Chief Minister Sonowal having taken stock of the infrastructure and the treatment facilities, asked the authorities to keep oxygen facilities ready along with other ancillaries. Later, talking to reporters, Sonowal said that in order to give people succor from COVID 19 pandemic, Government of Assam has initiated several steps. The district administrations in all districts of the state have been asked to gear up to tackle the situation. Taking into consideration of the present situation, the government with the help of the people of all sections have taken several proactive steps to contain the pandemic. He at the same time urged upon the media to play the role of a catalyst to generate awareness among the people to motivate them to adhere to COVID protocols.

He said that since COVID related deaths are also on the higher side, the Health Department under Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma has been working along with all its stake holders day in and day out to tackle the second wave of the pandemic. He also said that adequate system has been put in place to roll out different phases of vaccination drives to inoculate all sections of the people up to the eligible age limit. Chief Minister Sonowal also said that giving medical intervention to all the infected people and saving the lives of the people have been a priority of the government. He, therefore, urged upon everybody belonging to Barak, Brahmaputra, hills and plains to show resoluteness and responsibility to fight against the pandemic unitedly. He also said that when government is trying its best to upgrade COVID care infrastructure like, ICU beds, ventilation, oxygen facilities, people of the state should come up to vaccinate themselves at different vaccination centres. MLA Bimal Bora, Chief Minister’s Legal Advisor Santanu Bharali also accompanied the Chief Minister during his visit.
