MUMBAI : Taali has built its identity around doing familiar things differently, combining thoughtful product choices with a distinctive approach to brand-building. Its latest initiative with Pokémon takes that philosophy into one of India’s most familiar snacking formats with the launch of Taali Pokémon Cheese Balls, bringing together the growing ambition of Taali with the cross-generational appeal of one of the world’s most iconic entertainment brands.
Earlier this year, Taali and Pokémon announced that they were teaming up while keeping the product itself under wraps. That reveal has now landed: Taali Pokémon Cheese Balls, a non-fried, palm-oil-free snack with no-artificial colours or preservatives, bringing Taali’s more thoughtful product choices into a widely loved snacking format.
The idea at the heart of the collectible experience is simple: surprise, then completion. Every pack contains one of 12 collectible Pokémon stickers, making “Which Pokémon did I get?” part of the pack-opening moment. Consumers can scan the QR code at the back of the pack and then track their collection digitally as they work towards gathering all 12, extending the experience beyond a single snacking occasion.
As their collection grows, consumers can unlock digital rewards and get the opportunity to win specially designed Taali Pokémon merchandise, including totes, diaries, keychains, gym bags and other lifestyle products. Designed to be carried, used and kept, the merchandise gives the Taali Pokémon experience into consumers’ everyday lives.
The fit with Pokémon goes beyond its recognition. Discovery and collecting are central to the Pokémon experience, making the surprise of “Which Pokémon did I get?” a natural extension of the brand. Its appeal across age groups also brings a strong sense of affinity among both children and adults.
For Taali, the launch also reflects the growing scale and ambition of the brand. putting a new spin on everyday Indian favourites and bringing protein into unexpected snacking formats, Taali has continued to expand its portfolio while retaining a distinctive approach to both product and brand-building. The collaboration with Pokémon takes that approach one step further by building an experience around the product that extends well beyond the snack itself.
Taali Pokémon Cheese Balls will launch nationally and exclusively on Blinkit for the first 60 days, before expanding across other leading e-commerce and quick-commerce platforms, followed by wider offline distribution.
“We’ve always believed that making a snack better shouldn’t mean taking the fun out of it,” said Aarti Kaji, Co-founder of Taali. “With Taali Pokémon Cheese Balls, we wanted to take something people already know and love and give them more to get excited about, both in the snack and in the experience around it. For us, this launch is also a reflection of what we are building with Taali.
The initiative also reflects a broader shift already underway in FMCG and food marketing, where brands are using collectability, staged reveals, digital tracking, merchandise extensions, to build deeper, longer-lasting relationships with consumers in a crowded snacking aisle. For Taali, the launch is another step in building a brand that wants to shape how the next generation of India snacks.
