Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Government has extended the present lockdown till October 31st. In a statement today in Chennai, Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy has said some more relaxations have been announced in the next phase of the Unlock. They include doubling of the arrival of international flights in Chennai Airport and extension of working hours for the hotels and tea stalls.
The recent government order permitting students of Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth standard students to visit their schools to get their doubts clarified has been withdrawn, as stated by the chief minister. Now it is decided to consult the parents before taking a final call on the subject.
All educational institutions, cinema halls, tourist places and museums have been asked to remain shut down. The Chennai suburban train service will also remain suspended. Film shooting has been permitted on condition that the maximum number of people at a time should be capped at a hundred. The announcement comes close on the heels of the Chief Minister’s online interaction with all the district collectors and the direct consultations with the state-appointed team of medical experts.
