The Tamil Nadu Government has extended the statewide lockdown till July 31st. A statement issued by the government in Chennai says the lockdown would be implemented with a raft of relaxations. However, in Chennai, Madurai and their suburban areas, the prevailing complete lockdown will be in force till the 5th July. Afterwards, the regions would have the lockdown on a par with the other places in the state.
Meanwhile, the total COVID-19 infection in the state has exceeded the 86-thousand mark as 3949 people tested positive for the virus yesterday
