Kokrajhar: Total 15 retired teachers and 10 in-service teachers from Kokrajhar district were felicitated on the occasion of 59th Teacher’s Day in Kokrajhar today.
Observed by the Education Department, BTC at Girls Higher Secondary School, Kokrajhar, the teacher’s day was celebrated in a befitting manner to mark the birth anniversary of former President of India, Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.
Floral tributes was paid to Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan on the occasion.
Assam social welfare minister Pramila Rani Brahma, Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Bhaskar Phukan, BTC education director Kabir Ali, Inspector of School Kokrajhar Jagadish Brahma attended the function as guest.
In her speech, minister Pramila Rani Brahma called upon the teacher community to work for the upliftment of education scenario in the state. Stressing the need of quality education, she urged upon the teachers to dedicate themselves for the service of the student community and built a strong society.
The Teacher’s Day was celebrated throughout the schools and colleges of Kokrajhar district to mark the birthday of Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan through various programmes. The All Bodo Students Union(ABSU) also observed the teacher’s day at Bodofa House, Baganshali.
