Thackeray holds meeting with economists, researchers; seeks suggestions on boosting state economy

In a bid to give momentum to the wheels of economy in the state, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray held a meeting via video conferencing with eminent economists and researchers yesterday.

He expressed hope that the suggestions made by luminaries will help in boosting the rate of development of the state affected due to stalling of work due to Covid. He said during the period of lockdown too, the state signed MOUs worth 16 thousand crore and lamented the ill-effects of all the industries situated at specific places which eventually hampered their functioning due to the lockdown.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has focussed on decentralisation of industries and consensus among the locals for future projects in the state while discussing the ways to strengthen the economy of the state with the top economists and researchers yesterday. He underlined the need to build different townships as well as to start different industries near the ongoing ambitious Samruddhi Mahamarg project.

The experts gave various suggestions in the meeting which included maximum possible concessions to real estate sectors, use of the acquired land for Maha Mumbai SEZ for robotics, telemedicine industries, export industries and Information Technology Services and Production. Refinery in Konkan region among others.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar welcomed the suggestions from the experts and assured them to implement them as soon as possible.
