Time will come when our players will get gold medal in Olympic Games: CM Shivraj Singh

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that sports is constantly developing in Madhya Pradesh and  the time will come when our players will get gold medal in Olympic Games. Better training and facilities will be given to sportspersons in Madhya Pradesh. Also, care will taken to fulfil the needs of the players. Our goal is to prepare the best players for the country.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan was felicitated players and coaches with Vikram, Eklavya, Vishwamitra and Life time achievement Award  at Madhya Pradesh Shikhar Khel Alankaran Samaroh 2019 in Minto Hall today. Sports and Youth Welfare Minister, Smt. Yashodhara Raje Scindia, Mineral Resources Minister Shri Brijendra Pratap Singh, Minister of State for Backward Classes and Minority Welfare Shri Ramkhelavan Patel, Padmashri Shooter Shri Jaspal Rana, Shri Digvijay Singh of Madhya Pradesh Olympic Association, Principal Secretary  Sports and Youth Welfare Shri Pankaj Rag , Director Sports and Youth Welfare Shri Pawan Jain were present.

Six players of state in women’s hockey in Olympics

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that it is a matter of pride for the state that six players of Madhya Pradesh were included in the women’s hockey team in the last Olympics. This year again we feel proud of our two players of the state who achieved Olympic quota for India. When the medals hang around the neck of the players of the state, Mama’s head is held high with pride.

Madhya Pradesh pioneer in sports

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that sports is continuously developing in Madhya Pradesh. Today, Madhya Pradesh is among the leading states of India in the field of sports. While our sports budget was Rs 5 crores in the year 2006, today it is Rs 150 crores. Further, there will be no shortage of funds for the development of sports.

Sports department deserves to be lauded

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that players of Madhya Pradesh are giving a wonderful performance in sports. Muskan Kirar of Madhya Pradesh won medals in archery and Harshita Tomar in sailing at the Asian Games 2018. For the development of sports in the state, the entire staff of the department including the departmental minister deserves to be congratulated.

Players join CM in saying, “Hum chhoo lenge aasman”

Addressing players of the state Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that you have infinite powers, you are the child of nectar. You should play with courage and grit. We shall provide you all the facilities. All the players present in the programme enthusiastically joined Chief Minister Shri Chouhan in saying “Hum chhoo lenge aasman” (We will reach the sky).

Madhya Pradesh has brought two Olympic quota to the country

Sports Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia said that it is a matter of pride for Madhya Pradesh that our players have brought two “Olympic quota” for the country. Aishwarya Pratap Singh and Chinky Yadav of Madhya Pradesh have secured Olympic quota for the next Olympics.

CM Shri Chouhan is very sensitive towards sports

Minister Smt. Scindia said that Chief MinisterShri Chouhan is very sensitive towards sports .The Khel Alankaran Ceremony of 2019 was not organized during the time of the last government. Sports activities had stopped altogether. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan started sports activities as soon as he came to power and today the Khel Alankaran Samaroha of 2019 is taking place. Despite the Covid crisis, sports training is being imparted in the state amidst total safety and precautions since August. The programme began with rendition of national song Vande Mataram, M.P. song and Chief Minister Shri Chouhan performing kanya pujan. A sports souvenir was also released in the programme. The programme concluded with the national anthem.

Sports awards distributed, Life Time Achievement award to Shri Inam-ur-Rehman of Bhopal

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan gave away the state level Vikram, Eklavya, Vishwamitra and Life Time Achievement Awards for the year 2019. Olympian hockey player Shri Inam-ur-Rehman of Bhopal was honoured with Life Time Achievement Award of 2019. He received the award virtually.

In individual sports (Games played in Olympics, Asian Games and National Games) Eklavya awards were given to Shri Ajatshatru Sharma of Bhind for Canoeing-Kayaking, Shri Aditya Dubey of Dewas for Soft Tennis, Shri Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar of Khargone for Shooting, Sushri Gargi Singh Parihar of Bhopal for Karate, Sushri Anshita Pandey of Jabalpur for Wushu, Indore’s Shri Param Padam Birthare  for Swimming, Bhopal’s Shri Shankar Pandey for Fencing, Ujjain’s Shri Akshat Joshi for Horse Riding, Sushri Anusha Kutumbale of Indore for Table-Tennis, Shri Priyanshu Rajawat of Dhar for Badminton and Shri Govind Bairagi of Rajgarh for Sailing. In Group games, (Games played in Olympics, Asian Games and National Games) Sushri Shivangani Verma of Tikamgarh for Softball and Gwalior’s Sushri Ishika Chaudhary for Hockey and in Traditional Games (Games not played in Olympics, Asian Games and National Games) Indore’s Sushri Nityata Jain was awarded for Chess. 

Vikram Award-2019

In Individual Games (Games played in Olympics, Asian Games and National Games), Vikram Awards were given for the year 2019 to Sushri Rajeshwari Kusharam of Bhopal for Canoeing-Kayaking, Shri Faraz Khan of Bhopal for Horse Riding, Shri Advait Page of Indore for Swimming, Sushri Muskan Kirar of Jabalpur for Archery, Shri Jai Meena of Dewas for Soft Tennis and Sushri Chinky Yadav of Bhopal for Shooting. In Group games (Games played in Olympics, Asian Games and National Games). Awards were given to Sushri Pooja Parkhe of Indore for Softball and Sushri Karisma Yadav of Gwalior for Hockey. In the Disabled category (Games played in Olympics, Asian Games and National Games). Sushri Janki Bai was awarded for Judo and in Traditional games (Games not played in Olympic Asian Games and National Games), Shri Chandrakant Harde of Bhopal was awarded for Throw-Ball.

Vishwamitra Award-2019

Vishwamitra awards were given in Individual sports (games played in Olympics, Asian Games and National Games), Shri  Abhilash M.T. of Indore was awarded for Swimming, Shri Girdhari Lal Yadav of Bhopal for Sailing and in Group games (Olympic, Asian Games and National Games), Shri Sharad Jape of Indore was awarded for Kho-Kho.
