Tribal Youth Conclave ‘Jothumma’ concludes in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar:  The three-day Jothumma 2.0, a Tribal Youth Conclave, organised by the Government of Bodoland Territorial Region, concluded successfully at Bodofa Cultural complex in Kokrajhar today. 

The three-day event comprised plenaries covering topics, namely, constitutional safeguards of tribals in India, customary laws, gender justice, social entrepreneurship, climate change, and Sustainable Development Goals 2030.”

On the concluding day, Political Advisor to CEM, BTR Dr. Berlao  K Karjee attended the function as chief guest.

In his speech, Dr. Berlao Kharjee, said that the colourful Jothumma 2.0 has pleasantly brought forth the onset of Bwisagu celebrations. “It is good that interactions, discussions and relationships have been established amongst us as a result of this youth conclave, he said.

Speaking in the concluding session, Daobaisa Boro, BTR executive member Sports & Youth Welfare, and Cultural Affairs and also the Chairperson of the Organising Committee expressed his happiness in successful hosting of the event. “I am happy that we were able to host delegates from several Autonomous Councils in the Jothumma 2.0, he said.

Over 200 delegates and representatives from 14 autonomous councils from different parts of the country are participating in the event deliberating on addressing various social issues as well as development aspirations in the Council areas.

The purpose of Jothumma 2.0 is to empower the youth to explore innovative ideas to tackle development challenges in the Autonomous and Districts Councils. Jothumma which means a gathering of people  coming from diverse backgrounds with their diverse thoughts, a platform for the youth to embrace, learn, exchange and express their ideas.

“The Jothumma 2.0 has brought in large number of delegates from various Autonomous Councils. It was wonderful to have resource persons from all over the country and also participation from diverse tribal communities from India,” said JD Herembeswar Basumatary, the Chief Convenor of Jothumma 2.0. Delivering the vote of thanks, he said, “Let us move ahead by sharing our experiences, learning from one another and respecting all of our very rich cultures, traditions and knowledge systems.”

The event ended with a proud rendition of the National Anthem by all the guests and participants.
