Guwahati: Two Army personnel from Dehradun, who are deployed along the Indo-China border in Arunachal Pradesh, have been missing for the past 14 days, causing a lot of uneasiness among his family members here. Prakash Singh Rana was reported missing on May 29. Army officials informed his wife over the phone. Naik Prakash Rana, a resident of Chilona in Ukhimath in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district, posted along the China border in Arunachal Pradesh, and another jawan have been missing for 14 days, a senior Indian Army official said today. No trace of the missing jawans since May 29 has been found. The army and the locals are engaged in the search.
This information has been given to the family members of the jawan by the Army. The family members have been very upset since the news of the disappearance was received. The family of Naik Prakash Rana (34), originally a resident of Chilona village in Rudraprayag district, lives in Sainik Colony in Ambiwala in Dehradun. Naik Rana, posted in the 7th Garhwal Rifles, is at the Thakala post along the China border in Arunachal Pradesh these days. On May 29, Prakash Rana’s wife Mamta received a call from the army that your husband had gone missing. He also said that another soldier was missing with him. Two days later, When Mamata contacted again, she was told that she was being searched. Mamata said that for the last two days, she has been continuously trying to contact the army. But now they don’t even pick up the phone. She has sought to find her husband as soon as possible. Mamta says that her son and daughter keep asking about their father again and again.
But so far, there is no concrete information about her husband. The family has been quite concerned for several days over the jawan’s disappearance. Bjp’s Sahaspur MLA Sahdev Pundir met Rana’s family and assured them that he will take up the matter prominently with the government. He met the cabinet minister and informed about the disappearance of the army jawan. Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt has also been apprised of this. It was reported that the search for the missing jawans is on with the help of locals. Rana, a jawan in the 7th Garhwal Rifles, who is originally from Ukhimath in Rudraprayag district, was posted at Thakla outpost on the Indo-China border in Arunachal. The jawan’s disappearance for the past 14 days has left his family, including his wife Mamta and his two minor children Anuj (10) and daughter Anamika (7), worried. On the other hand, the entire team of National Monuments Authority (NMA) will visit ancient monuments bordering the Tibet-China region of Arunachal Pradesh from June 14 to 18, 2022.
The team will also meet local tribal leaders to explore the places of indigenous religion that connect Arunachal Pradesh to other parts of the country through legends and oral history. The entire team of NMA will comprise of Chairman Shri Tarun Vijay besides two members Shri Hemraj Kamdar and Prof. Kailash Rao. Tarun Vijay said it goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who began the annual journey from Arunachal to Porbandar in Gujarat, consolidating the cultural threads woven around Rukmani’s legacy in the most exciting and enlightening way. Arunachal Pradesh has lagged behind in the field of heritage conservation and new monuments have been included in the Centrally Protected List of National Archaeological Sites, he said.
