Waaree Transpower Invests ₹192 Crore to Boost High-Voltage Transformer Production

0 6

Waaree Transpower Private Limited, a subsidiary of Waaree Energies Ltd., is investing ₹192 crore to establish a state‑of‑the‑art 500 MVA, 400 kV transformer manufacturing facility, expanding its high‑voltage power transformer capabilities to support India’s growing transmission and renewable energy infrastructure.

Scheduled to be operational by April 2027, the facility will enable Waaree Transpower to manufacture and supply transformers across 132 kV, 220 kV, and 400 kV voltage classes. The move responds to rising electricity demand and the need for robust transmission systems that can integrate large‑scale renewable generation and energy storage into the grid.

Strategic Expansion

The investment strengthens Waaree Transpower’s position across the power infrastructure value chain, extending its reach beyond renewable energy applications to address a wider range of high‑voltage transmission needs. The new facility will complement the company’s existing capacity and allow it to participate in larger, more technically complex power projects.

With a current order book of approximately ₹360 crore for execution in FY 2026–27, the company has a strong foundation for its next stage of growth.

Leadership Perspective

Mr. Viren Doshi, Director, Waaree Energies Limited, commented:

“Our ₹192‑crore investment in a 500 MVA, 400 kV manufacturing facility reflects our long‑term confidence in India’s power‑infrastructure growth and the rising demand for reliable, high‑voltage transformation capacity. As renewable energy deployment accelerates, strengthening the transmission network and seamlessly integrating new generation and storage into the grid will be equally critical. This facility significantly enhances our capabilities and enables us to serve customers across a broader range of voltage classes and power‑infrastructure applications.”

Broader Strategy

The investment is part of Waaree Transpower’s wider strategy to build a scalable, technologically advanced, and diversified electrical‑infrastructure business—prepared to support India’s evolving power sector while developing capabilities for emerging opportunities in renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and grid infrastructure.
