Weaving centre led by former Mrs Universe launched by BTR chief Pramod Boro in her native village

Mangaldai :: Bodoland government is to purchase traditional weaving products like Arnai, Dakhana and Gamosawirth Rs 50 crore from local artisans. This has been stated by Pramod Boro, Chief Executive Member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) on September 12 at Niz Mugalbecha village under BTR close to non BTR Darrang border. ” The Assam government has earmarked Rs 200 crore to purchase traditional weaving products. Similarly our Bodoland government has also decided to purchase Arnai, Dakhana, Gamosa worth Rs 50 crore from local weavers and we are making necessary discussion with our Handloom department ‘ , said the BTR Chief while talking to newsmen.

” The Bodoland government is going to offer whole hearted support to the weaving training center set up by Kiran Boro in the village. I declare an amount of Rs 10 lakh from Bodoland government as a grant to the training center.” Boro maintained. He hoped that the training center would explore the creative talents of the local promising weaving artisans and thus help them earn with dignity from their residences itself and contribute to empowering the rural economy. Earlier Pramod Boro ceremonially inaugurated the training centre namely ” Xipini” with a strength of ten nos of modern looms, set up under the aegis of “Kkiran Foundation” founded by Mrs Universe Exclusive (2017, South Africa ) and entrepreneur Kiran Boro in her paternal land. The inaugural ceremony was also attended by several other prominent persons of the BTR including its Deputy Chief and Udalguri MLA Gobinda Basumatary. In the beginning Kiran Boro explained her objectives of setting up the training centre in her native village in five bighas of her paternal land and her future expansion planning .
